Donna Marie Robb works as a children's librarian and enjoys traveling around the world with her husband Ron Atmur. Several of her short stories have been published in literary magazines such as Wild Violet, Skyline, Femspec, Tales of the Talisman, and the anthology Story Sprouts.  She has also reviewed children’s books for School Library Journal.

What is Halfling about?

Teenaged orphan Remmi Clearwater lives in a parallel world called Dreamearth, which people from Realearth visit when they sleep. Unfortunately for Remmi, she is a Halfling, the child of a Dreamearth mother and a Realearth father. When a corrupt leader comes to power in Dreamearth, he vows to do away with all Halflings . . . starting with Remmi.

Why do you write for kids?

I work as a children’s librarian, so I am exposed to children’s literature on a daily basis, which includes selecting books to purchase for my branch. Aside from that, I have always enjoyed reading MG and YA novels and find them fun to write.

How has CBW–LA helped you?

I  received a lot of excellent advice on my manuscript at critique sessions. The workshops I was able to attend were informative and interesting. I also participated in the yearly Story Sprouts, which was not only a creative workout but added more publishing credits to my name.

Would you recommend CBW–LA to other writers?

Yes. I actually have.
