Picture Book Workshop:

The Power of Critique Groups & Writing Tips I’ve Learned Along the Way

With Bilingual Children’s Author & Educator

Gladys Elizabeth Barbieri

Join us for a lively workshop, where we will explore several topics that are key in writing solid and memorable picture books. We will also spend some time looking at note-worthy picture books that demonstrate and highlight these topics:

  • The power of joining critique groups
  • Rhythm and flow of your story (word count matters!)
  • The importance of having quality illustrations
  • Show don’t tell (using illustrations to infer situations and feelings)
  • Why it’s critical to read and familiarize yourself with picture books
  • Diversity and multiculturalism in picture books
  • Resources to help you on your writing journey
